lyrics

VERSE 1
We used to admire the fairer sex without silicon
now women think they need it, what planet we on?
eat homemade food, came from fresh crops
eat foods that weren't processed to be sold in shops
let our children play outside, explore the streets
compete to a score, these days it's done discreet
leave school only then to play in a park
instead of going home to a screen, in the dark
girls used to hide it, not let it all hang out
leave something to the imagination, to leave some doubts
like getting a present, all wrapped up with a bow
these days we see the present unwrapped, thinking they're ready to go
be able to wait for something, these days leak, leak, leak
stream, download, fiend, couldn't wait a week
once we get it, on to the next one, extremely quick
we used to admire the skinny, now it's the thick

CHORUS
This ain't a song to reminisce, that I dismiss
not all is worse these days, it ain't a diss
on the current times, but I do insist
there are things we're doing that just shouldn't exist
x2

VERSE 2
I read that crops in the states are up to forty percent
less nourishing as before, it does make, perfect sense
our soil filled with chemicals, our rain, evaporated shit
then there is fracking, fucking hell, tear up their permits
no wonder it's easy to get cancer, contract melanoma
but harder to get employed, leads to distress, then a carcinoma
because we used to get a job as soon as we earnt a diploma
now we wanna travel young, cheap flights to Arizona or Barcelona
used to be less to tempt us, less wandering
now everyone wastes their life, more pondering
our lifestyle has changed, not new info unless you're a fool
got more accessible phones, updated electronic tools
but the original will outlast the new, you know the rule
they don't make 'em, like they used to
we used to be proud of what we make, now our businesses are beyond the borders
conspiracy theorists be touting, new world order

CHORUS

VERSE 3
We used to picture the future being prosperous and dynamic
artists painted portraits of promise, panoramic
we looked forward to the future for what was on the horizon
back when boxers were brutally beaten by Mike Tyson
'80s films saw hoverboards and time travel
interplanetary expeditions, who knew it would unravel
today and for years we've witnessed the wreckage we've woven
the picture's been flipped on its head, it's the picture we've chosen
from bright colours and invention to grey and misfortune
running out of produce, need to pick smaller plates and portions
from optimism to fear, expectation to despair
it was all a pipe dream, George Jetson, living in the air
blue skies and white clouds how we used to see today
before reality set in, the array of decrepit decay
now we all just wonder, when it'll end
can we reverse time, I doubt it, as we're not doing what they recommend

I'm passionate about music and have been making it for a minute. I mainly create conscious hip hop where I can vent by putting my opinions down on 'wax'. Many other songs are tracks about the fairer sex.
